Gorumara National Park
Gorumara National Park is located on the banks of the Jaldhaka and Murti rivers. Established in 1992 the national park inhabits wild animals such as Indian Bison, Leopard, Elephant, Rock python, and many more. The park offers various activities including jungle safari and elephant rides which allow exploring wild animals very closely. The park also offers elephant rides along the dense forest.
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary
Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary is another tourist attraction point that is known for its diverse wildlife and lush greenery. Located on the eastern foothills of the Himalayan region, the park offers a jungle safari that allows tourists to witness wild animals including one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, and leopards. The tourist can also explore the jungle with an elephant safari in the dense forest.
Lataguri
Lataguri is the place to visit and is common among adventure seekers due to its beautiful tea gardens and forest followed by a road that provides an immersive travelling experience. The place is also popular for roadside restaurants known as “Dhabas” which offer delicious foods along the way.
Murti and Jayanti

Buxa Tiger Reserve
Located in the outer foothills of the Himalayan region Buxa Tiger Reserve is widely popular for its collection of more than 284 bird species, the great hornbill is the most endangered bird species of this region. The Reserve also inhabits other endangered species such as the Indian Leopard and White-rumped Vulture. Buxa Tiger Reserve is a popular destination among bird explorers and botany enthusiasts.
Gorubathan
Gorubathan is a small village located on the banks of river Chel that is widely popular among people for its beautiful picnic spots. The village is surrounded by dense forest along with a wide range of tea gardens. The village also consists of the ancient Dalim Fort which was built by the king of the Lepcha community on top of the hill that offers a panoramic view of the hills followed by Chel River.
Placed in the verdant land between the foothills of eastern Himalayan foothills, Dooars offers a diverse landscape through mountains, tea gardens, alluvia plains and cascading rivers. The region is relatively flat, with an altitude ranging from 90 to 1800 meters. Dooars experiences a subtropical climate with summers being humid and the winters with cool and mild climatic conditions. The region receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season making it lush and green. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to visit which offers numerous options for tourism.
Dooars is composed of numerous tribes and ethnic groups following diverse traditions and cultures which can be seen from the lifestyle of the people and popular festivals such as Manosha Puja, Durga Puja, Kali Puja and many more. Rajbanshi, Toto, and Kamtapuri are among the oldest tribes of this region along with other communities including, Nepali, Bengali and Assamese. Being home to numerous communities the people of this region communicate with multiple languages. Some of the most popularly used languages of Dooars are Bengali, Maithili, Assamese, Nepali and Magahi.
Although Dooars is known for its natural beauty and rich wildlife, the region is also widely known for its delicious dishes and vibrant cuisine. Being located adjacent to the Indo-Bhutan border and some parts of the Kalimpong district, most of the dishes are influenced by Tibetan cuisines. The Boroli Fish Festival is the biggest festival in this region that honours the area's rich fishing history while showcasing local customs and culture. Air : Visitors can take a flight to the nearest Bagdogra airport from where they can visit Dooars either by public transport or by train from the railway station of NJP.
Train : Tourists can board the train from NJP station of Siliguri which will take on through the beautiful tea gardens and rivers of Dooars.
Road : Road is one of the most common modes of transport for Dooars from hiring a car from Siliguri which is 56 km from Dooars region.
